The Feed
A Social Layer That Lifted Tailed Lineups by 56%
PrizePicks had 20 million registered accounts and no social layer at all. I designed the feed, profiles, and one-tap copy flow that turned a solo utility into a place people come back to. Tailed lineups rose 56% and week-over-week retention rose 15%.
Overview
From Standalone Utility to Social Sports Entertainment
I led design on the social layer, which covered public profiles, the live feed, reactions, the one-tap copy flow, and sharing. It shipped into the live app, in front of 20 million registered accounts and more than 2 million monthly actives.
Daily fantasy has always been a solitary experience by default. Users made their picks in a vacuum while all the actual community lived somewhere else, in group chats and social feeds the product had no part in.
The feed changed that. Bringing that energy natively into PrizePicks gave users the ability to follow friends, track live plays, and tail lineups instantly (Fig 1.0). Embedding community into the core loop turned a simple utility into a social entertainment engine.

My Part
One Designer, Two Pods
I was the only designer across two pods. Each had its own Product Manager and its own engineering lead, with a group of engineers behind them.

Social Surfaces I Led
-
The Pods
Two PMs, two engineering leads, and engineers on both. Every bit of the design came from me.
-
The Path
Started on the innovation team, finished on the core team. It shipped to 20 million registered accounts.

The Research
I partnered with our UXR department to make sure we were on the right track. It came together fast as an MVP, so we checked for usability problems before production.
